Billy D. Wright

Billy D Wright at 85 years of age, on July 6, 2023 at 10 p.m. passed away in Loma Linda, California.  He has made his way to the pearly gates of heaven.

Bill was born on February 10, 1938 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  Jamestown was his home town where he grew up.  He married Emma Stinson and they had 5 children.  Eventually Bill and Emma moved to Southern California where they raised their children.  Bill was a hardworking man, he worked at Westing House Company in California for many years, he also worked in construction with his brother-in-law Butch Madewell in Jamestown, and through the years he traveled to many states to find work and support his family. 

Bill was such a happy guy, enjoying life, giving to others unconditionally. serving at his church, and loving the Lord.  He attended Akers Chapel in the community of East Jamestown with his late sister Francis Herd.  He also enjoyed serving in his church and joining events.  Bill loved to dance and enjoyed music very much.  Once he got so excited at his grandson, Josephs’ wedding that he got in the middle of the dance floor and did a jig, it was amazing!   He also loved to see his grandchildren and little children play; it gave him so much joy.  Bill had an amazing sense of humor and he always had funny things to say and joke around about.  He also enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Tennessee Volunteers and Titans’ football games. 

Bill is survived by his youngest sister Helen Obrzut, his children Joe and Lynn Wright, Terrie Mendoza, Bridgett Wright and Wanda Wright.  His grandchildren Joseph Wright, Desiree Alvarez, Corey Sharp, Amber Nivala, David Mendoza, Nicole and Natalie Pinon.  His great-grandchildren: Alyssa Hope, Luke, Seth, Drake, Mason, Evan, Colin and Eaverly Faith. And not to forget his puppy Goofy.  We will surely miss Billy D., he was a precious man to his family and friends.

Celebration of Life service will be held at Jennings Funeral Home, 414 N Main St., Jamestown, TN 38556 on September 16, 2023 at 10 a.m.  A cremation burial will be held immediately following at Fentress Memorial Garden, 2088 Memory Garden Road, Jamestown 38556.
