Demple Weaver Obituary

Beloved wife, mom, nana, and teacher Demple (King) Weaver, age 81, of Jamestown, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the Signature Healthcare of Fentress County.

Demple was born on February 14, 1944 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Delmer and Cordie (Cooper) King. She grew up in the Manson area of West Fentress and graduated from York Institute at age 16. A determined and focused lady, she graduated from Tennessee Technological University with her Bachelor’s degree in education at age 19. Demple continued her education by getting her Master’s degree with 30 additional credit hours to always make sure her students had the best.

Mrs. Weaver, as she was known to her students, taught at York Institute for 44 years. Formally, she excelled at teaching her specialty business subjects of accounting, short-hand, typing (on manual and electric typewriters) and computer keyboarding. Informally, Mrs. Weaver mentored, advised, and loved her students. Her family often heard stories from her former students. She was known to tell a student that he needed to take her typing class instead of wasting his time in study hall. She gave another student three options to major in when she went to college (the student had not even decided to go to college yet) and she is now a nurse. Mrs. Weaver started a fund for students who were unable to afford basic necessities to make sure all her students could learn. Many students have called or sent messages sharing the roles that her teaching and her care played in their success.

At age 19, Demple married the love of her life, Marvin Weaver. Demple spent many years loving and caring for Marvin, their daughters, Melissa and Valerie, and their grandchildren, Aliza and Calvin. Demple cooked many family meals including her amazing fried chicken and incredible apple walnut cake. To share experiences and spend time with her family, she took her daughters and two sisters on a cross-country driving trip to Los Angeles to see her other sister. She traveled many places to see her family including Knoxville, Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Lancaster. Demple loved Jesus and believed deeply in her Christian faith. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Jamestown where she taught Vacation Bible School, served on the counting committee, and volunteered for many other roles throughout the years.

Demple was preceded in death by her mother Cordie King, father Delmer King, sister Phyllis More, sister Vergie King, sister Brenda Wright, brother-in-law Nick Wright, and brother-in-law Dennis More.

Demple is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Marvin Weaver; daughters Melissa (David) Wascher and Valerie (Matt) Blackmon; grandchildren Aliza Blackmon and Calvin Blackmon; and many nieces and nephews, including special niece Denise (Quang) Dang.
