MUNCIE – Edward Williams, 92, of Muncie passed away early Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Golden Living Center. He was born November 1, 1921 inPall Mall, Tennessee to Oscar and Dorothy (Conatser) Williams. He was schooled in Tennessee and served in the Civilian Corp (CC Camp) before serving in WWII from 1942-1945. He served in the CBI theater of Operations for 28 months with the 12th Air Cargo Resupply Unit. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with Two Bronze Stars and received the Good Conduct Medal. After his service he was employed at Ball Brothers for 22 years and then worked for General Motors and retired after 18 years.
Edward was a member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church for over 40 years and Fidelity Sunday School Class, Delco Sympathy Club and Delaware Lodge 46 F&AM of Free and Accepted Masons for over fifty years and Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, American Legion Post 19 and former member of UAW Local 663.
Edward is survived by his loving daughter-in-law Vicki Hansard Williams, two grandchildren Jay Williams (wife-Cathy) of Canyon Country, California, Julie Chalfant (husband-Jon) of Muncie, four great-grandchildren Kinley Williams of Selma, Brantley, Alexis and Parker Williams of Canyon Country, California, one great-great-grandson Zion Douglas Hensley of Selma, one sister Estelle Esquivell of Fulton, Missouri and special friend of over twenty years Bessie Cox of Muncie. Two sister-in-laws Dorothy Davis of Crossville, Tennessee and Claudean Cooper of Cookeville, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Glenna Beaty Williams, two sons George and Douglas Williams., two brothers Francis Asbury Williams and Harold Massiongale and one sister Velna Barclay.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday March 6, 2014 at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Gordon Jackson officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary from 4:00 to 8:00PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 and one hour prior to services on Thursday. A Masonic Memorial service will be conducted by Delaware Lodge 46 F&AM at 7:00PM on Wednesday.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, March 7, 2014 at Fentress County Memory Garden in Jamestown, Tennessee.
In lieu of flower the family prefers that memorial contributions be made to The Little Red Door. or I.U. Ball Memorial Hospice memory of his son Douglas.
